Looking to reduce your food waste? A kitchen bin or caddy on your benchtop makes it easy to collect food scraps for composting or your council green waste collection bin. While an ice cream tub can do the trick, we test products specifically designed for this purpose to see if they perform well and are easy to clean and maintain.

Our testers collect a variety of food scraps over a number of weeks for the kitchen caddies, assessing:

  • how well the bins keep out pests and mould
  • whether the bins smell bad with the lid closed
  • how comfortable the bins are to open/close
  • ease of adding and emptying contents
  • ease of cleaning the unit and any filters (if applicable).
