Water-efficient showerheads are good for the environment and your water bill. We've gathered water usage results and product information from Australia's Water Efficiency Labelling and Standards (WELS) database, as well as popular retailers, to help you find a water-saving showerhead that isn't a total drip.

Our comparison table shows you:

  • the showerheads that have the best water efficiency, including flow rate in litres per minute
  • WELS star ratings
  • different showerhead types, including adjustable, fixed, hand held, ceiling mounted and combinations
  • the number of spray settings
  • where to buy the showerheads (some are exclusive to certain retailers).

Specifications include the number of additional functions the showerhead has, whether the shower uses an arm or hose, whether the arm is adjustable, and where the flow control is located.

In Australia, water fixtures and some appliances must be registered and assessed for their water usage efficiency. As well as a score of one to four stars, the showerhead must also clearly display the flow rate per minute. The higher the rating, the more water-efficient it is. The recommended retail price (RRP) as supplied by the manufacturer. We found some significant price differences for some showerheads depending on the retailer, so it really pays to shop around. You can also save money by opting for a standard colour such as chrome rather than a fancy finish like gold or brushed brass.
