I'll admit to being a computer nerd. I started out as a programmer with IBM back when mainframes with the power of a smartwatch filled a room and their water-cooling heated the whole building, and I spent 35 years there developing software and managing projects. The highlight was managing INFO, the press information system for the Sydney Olympic Games.
After that, nothing was quite the same and I found my way to CHOICE as a verifier. I've now been here for around 15 years, writing about computer technology and how to use it, and even using it to improve the way we work.
I'm never far from a computer, but I like to spend time with my children and grandchildren, mostly here but also in Portugal. I travel whenever I can, otherwise I'm probably reading science fiction and detective stories or watching similar things on TV.
